Morning rituals are so important because it sets the tone for the day. Before turning on my phone and looking at emails, instagram, and facebook I do these rituals that are devoted to me. Make time for yourself! Make your own rituals.

  1. I walk outside my patio door and give thanks. I listen for the birds chirping and appreciate the sun rising. I walk around my small garden admiring my Poppy flowers that have bloomed. Remember it’s not happy people who are thankful, it’s the thankful people who are happy. Where will you go to give thanks in your morning?
  2. I drink an 8 oz glass of warm water with lemon. This is a good source of vitamin c and a great way of flushing out toxins in the morning, it balances and maintains the PH levels in the body. There are many benefits of drinking lemon water: gives your immune system a boost, excellent source of potassium, aid digestion by loosening toxins in your digestive tract, it also helps to relieve symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, burping and bloating, keeps your skin blemish free, helps you lose weight, reduces inflammation -it removes uric acid in your joints, which is one of the main causes of inflammation, helps reduce anxiety and depression (the scent of lemons has a calming effect on the nervous system)
  3. I make a cup of espresso and top it off with coconut cream. Dairy causes inflammation in auto immune-compromised people. As I’m sipping my expresso I am journaling. Writing down my goals gives me focus and clarity. Writing down all my ideas helps me externalize my goals by giving them form. “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible” Tony Robbins
  4. My last ritual in the morning is to sit in front of my red light therapy lamp. Red light therapy can build collagen in the skin, which reduces wrinkles. Research from the journal of AIMS Biophysics notes there are many helpful anti-inflammatory effects of RLT, and the potential uses for this therapy. Some include; chronic inflammatory issues, tendinitis and psoriasis. This lamp also helps reduce the age spots on my face. This is a must purchase!

I hope you find your mornings as peaceful as mine. For many years I ran around the house like a chicken with it’s head cut off. Now I go to bed earlier so I can have my quiet time before my three children get up. Please make time for yourself. Your peace and sanity is crucial for your body and mind.
